QoL Update

We're back (I don't know who "we" is, it's just me, LOL) with a brand new build. I'm slowly trying to leave prototype territory here and start making a proper demo/V-slice thing.

Something that was pointed out to me is that it actually does not run on anything except Windows. Sorry about that, I really didn't know because the option I chose when I exported the build said Windows, Mac and Linux, but there's a small dropdown in that which only lets me choose Windows.

Anyway, with that out of the way, here's what was changed in the build.

  • There are now button prompts in front of the characters when you can interact. The behaviour is still a little wonky for those, so please bear with me.
  • The school is now mostly functional. There are button prompts telling you where you can enter. There's a bug where pressing space just pushes you further into the hallway instead of going in, I'm not sure how to fix that just yet because it doesn't happen all the time. If you can test it and give me some information about when it happens, it should be easier to fix. There's also a gift item in the school that will help with Aki's task.
  • Instead of the Escape button restarting the game instantly, there's now a pause menu where you can restart the game, quit to title or quit the game.
  • Opening a character interaction now pauses the game.
  • Made the dialogue choices a much bigger and closer together so it looks less weird.
  • Fixed a couple of bugs with the UI.
  • Added 2 teachers

Things that I still need to do for polish:

  • Add a tutorial so that I don't need to put all the instructions on the itch.io page.
  • Add some boundaries to the edges of the map so it looks more lifelike.
  • Add more students and have some be in the actual building.
  • Hopefully make a better school that isn't just cubes, but no promises. I'm horrible at modelling.

Thanks for reading!
